Red Wine: Chateau de la Gardin – Chateau Neuf du Pape, 2004, France.

91-93 Points – $14

This vineyard has been active in making wine since the 1300’s. Dark red in color with a nose of licorice, tar, plums and dark cherry. A plump full mouth of licorice, spice, coffee and chocolate. Best to decant as this wine had lots of sediment. Good for aging. Very nice. 91 to 93 pts depending on the year.

This wine is one of Jayson Woodbridge’s finest. Dark red with a pipe tobacco and mocha nose. Rich taste of chocolate, fruit and spice with a full long spicey finish. Excellent stuff, drinking very nicely now with potential for some aging.

89 Points – $29

Dark burgundy red in color with a full nose of black cherry, oak and dark chocolate. A full taste that cots your mouth with black cherry, fruit and cocoa. Smooth finish without any harshness that one expects from young cabs, probably due to the lower alcohol content. A good drinking wine for meat.
